GIVEAWAY – PayPal’s AppJamming Camp for Kids {CLOSED}
We have heard many new initiatives and plans to make Singapore a Smart Nation. You can imagine our kids would need to be in the know of all things digital too! I am so excited PayPal Singapore is organising another coding Day Camp this year, after their successful all-girls camp last year. And this time, it’s for Boys too!
This year, it’s a 3-day camp Kids in Tech 2017 held during the September Holidays and it will be conducted by SG Code Campus, a popular coding school for kids. It aims to get the kids excited about technology and expose them to Information Technology (IT), all in a very safe and non-threatening environment! They will learn about design thinking methodology and code development to build their first application.

I had a look at what they will learn at camp and was very impressed! The Arts student in me have zero idea about many IT matters! Honestly, it sounds really fun!
Firstly, the camp is held in Singapore PayPal uber cool office, so the kids get to tour the office and get first hand exposure to working in a tech company!
The kids will learn the nature of computers, recognise coding as a computer language and from there, a brief introduction to programming. They will get a chance to program their own application using Scratch. And to further enhance their coding knowledge and practicality, they will get involved in the BBC MICRO:BIT craze and start building applications and games using the hardware.
Imagine the kids will get to formulate algorithms and write codes to create their very own app! And Parents are invited to attend the closing session when the kids get present their apps and do a demo! Woohooo!

My son would love this camp! He’s always keen to learn and thrives in a social setting like a camp. Which is why I don’t have private tuition for him.. activities like these would be awesome. He would gain and he would also give back lots with his energy!
My daughter recently became interested in coding and gaming. She loves Minecraft and Roblox. She is always curious on how the games’ logic works. And wishes she can create a game on her own. Please choose my child to attend this Appjamming camp so that she can gain some insights on programming knowledge and logic. It’s also a once a in lifetime experience to be able to go inside PayPal office and take a glimpse of their world.

To give the kids a safe environment to dabble into the computing world gives them some head start to be more expose to the technology and expectations of tomorrow. Generations of tomorrow are definitely people who can create innovations of value, proactive problem solver and able to share their idea with support from others.
